Spiritual Worship

Looking for ways to feed your spirit, or to grow spiritually? UUCA offers Unitarian Universalist Services every Sunday morning. Buddhist fellowship meditation occur a few times a week, and MoonFire Pagan rituals seasonally, usually monthly or every other month.

Sunday Services

Our Sunday worship services are a cornerstone of church life at UUCA, a time when most of our members and friends gather–whether online or in-person!  Our worship services are open and free for all and reflect the diverse faith traditions we are founded on, including Humanism and atheism, as well as Judaism, Christianity, Islam, paganism, and many others. A service is normally one hour and most services include readings, prayer or meditation, a sermon, and live or recorded music.

From September to May, UUCA offers two services: 9:15 and 11:15 a.m. (ET).  During the summer, one service only at 10:15 am. Visit our newsletter for latest updates: http://www.uucava.org/news

The 10:15/11:15 a.m. service is also livestreamed to Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, and our website.

UUCA Buddhist Fellowship

The UUCA Buddhist Fellowship supports our members and friends in their study and practice of Buddhism. Many participants are curious newcomers, others are more experienced practitioners. Most participants find Buddhist principles and the UU Principles to be complementary – and find that the spiritual tools (like meditation and mindfulness) offered by Buddhism help them deepen their understanding of the UU Principles as well as live happier, healthier lives.

The UUCA Buddhist Fellowship offers three weekly programs:

  • Monday evenings, 7:30 pm to 8:45 pm: A Meditation and Dharma Talk with an opportunity for sharing afterward is offered in partnership with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington (IMCW). These sessions are held in the Activity Room on the lower level and simultaneously on Zoom. Subscribe to the email list on the IMCW page for the event to receive the Zoom link, topics, class cancellation alerts, and private access to the recorded talks. Contact Stig Regli at sregli@me.com for more information.
  • Wednesday evenings, 7:30 pm to 8:45 pm: An hour of in-person silent sitting and/or walking meditation or contemplation, followed by mindful discussion, is offered in Room 20 on the lower level. Contact Suzan Chastain at suzanc825@gmail.com for more information.
  • Friday mornings, 7:00 am to 7:45 am: First Light Meditation, a half-hour silent meditation with an opportunity for sharing afterward, on Zoom. Contact David McTaggart at dmctagg@gmail.com or Gregg Forte at gforte@mac.com for more information. Zoom link.
