Why I Love UUCA

I love being part of UUCA because it honestly respects and supports my search for truth and meaning, wherever the path leads. And I want other people to experience that support too, now and in the future. My biggest challenges and rewards in our church come from the time I spend with young adults: the Young Adult Group and the high school Youth Group. I want the people who will be the future of our church to form their own identities and chart their own courses, so I always try to think about which times it’s better to actively help get things done and when it’s better to step back and give other people a chance to take initiative, learn, and grow. The greatest reward I get is when more people join UUCA, participate, and become who they want to be as well as the friends I want to be with in a church community.

I make an annual pledge to support everything that goes into making UUCA the special place it is. If you haven’t met some of the awesome young adults I get to work with yet, check out Youth Sunday on May 13 or say hi to the Young Adult Group outside the sanctuary after one of the 11:15 services before we head out to brunch. And if you haven't already made an annual pledge, please consider helping with one to support the work UUCA does now and to help it become the community we want it to be in the future.

Funny! These are a lot of the reasons why I love UUCA, too--even though my activities are very different from yours. I love volunteering for the church because I receive support and validation for what I can do, forgiveness for what I can't do, and challenge to try new things or new ways. Like you, I pledge because I am grateful to UUCA for what it gives to me and to the world, and I want all of that to flourish. Thanks for your great words and your terrific work with the youth and YAs.
