I find the Chinese and Russian veto of the UN Security resolution to censure Syria maddening. So I am going to personally boycott Russian and Chinese goods. No more Russian caviar, Stolichnaya vodka or chinese toys for me. Seriously, even though I don't expect a call from their respective embassies begging me to reconsider, I am going to be looking at labels and thinking twice about Chinese-made goods. Unfortunately, being a retired drinker, I can't think of any product I use that is made in Russia. But a lot of the things I buy are made in China. No, I don't expect my personal boycott to do a whit of good, but why not a world-wide boycott? I just did quick web search to find a boycott campaign I could sign on to, and was surprised that the only thing that popped up were campaigns by Arab groups, e.g., the Arab Muslim Brotherhood. Where's the outrage from the Western world? If you know of appropriate boycott camapaign for me/us to sign on to please let me/us know. It will take a lot of small time consumers like us to counter the Russian and Chinese arms merchants, but let's at least try.
My personal next step has been to write Apple urging this corporate giant to start shifting production of their wonderful toys (e.g., my iPhone?) out of China in response to my concerns. Please join my snail mail by writing to: Apple, 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, CA 95014.
Cheers,
