Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington, VA

A diverse, welcoming community of open hearts and minds since 1948

This Sunday I'm exchanging pulpits with my good friend Rev. Scott Alexander. Usually pulpit exchanges are local, but we're doing a long distance swap with Scott coming from Vero Beach, Florida, and me replacing him there (I'm not getting hardship pay). Scott and I have been friends since we attended Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, California, and we got to know each other better when he was the senior minister at the River Road UU Church for 14 years before moving to Vero Beach last year (I enjoyed speaking at his installation).

Scott is an excellent minister and a dynamic preacher. He's written several books and has been an outstanding leader in our denomination. And he's speaking on one of my favorite subjects: happiness.

Scott is also an outstanding athlete who puts most of us to shame with his long distance bike rides. He has ridden across the country twice for worthy causes and is preparing for another ride this spring to help fight hunger. Click here to find out more about this latest ride.

And I hope you come to hear Scott this Sunday speak on a subject we all need to learn more about.

Enjoy Florida, Rev. Michael, and we'll look forward to what Rev. Scott will share with us!

We do all need to learn more about happiness and how we overrate it as I read Dr. Weil's book on happiness.
