-In Page Two last Sunday, there was an announcement that two opportunities to meet candidates have been scheduled: 2/24 after second service and 3/1 after first service.

-In early January, the Nominating Committee, with the assistance of members of the Board of Trustees, made over 800 phone calls to Church members to solicit the names of possible candidates.  This extraordinary effort was made so that as many voices as possible would have a say.

-The Nominating Committee will announce its slate by the 24th.  The Nominating Committee has been interviewing possible candidates since the calls were made to the membership.  The Nominating Committee will issue a report including bios of those on its slate.

-The quorum for a congregational meeting is the lesser of: 75 members eligible to vote or 8% of the members eligible to vote.  The exact number eligible to vote has not yet been determined, but it is about 860.

-We will have a written ballot.

--Keep in mind that the Nominating Committee itself was elected directly by the congregation at the last annual meeting, and this year a very important part of its charge from the membership is to nominate a slate of candidates for the search committee.  The members of the Nominating Committee have been serving us well, and I thank each of them for the countless hours the have put into their efforts on behalf of all of us.

1.  Will there be ample opportunity for discussion of the slate; will this be an up/down vote on the entire slate?

2.  Will the vote be taken by paper ballot?  Or, will members raise their hands to be counted?  Or....?

3.  What is the required quorum of members?

4.  What were the criteria used by the Nominating Committee for selection of candidates?  Will those criteria be presented to members along with biographic data and values statements by each candidate, and when?
