Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington, VA
A diverse, welcoming community of open hearts and minds since 1948
This week, long-time UUCA member Judy King read a poem to me that she'd recently written about the church. I was so charmed by it I asked her to forward it to me to share online ... I'm very grateful for her creativity and her many faithful years of coordinating our Meals on Wheels program, a responsibility she is now passing on.
Children crossing the parking lot
Used to be mine but now they’re not.
The walkway is steep, the walkway’s wide
Heavy the door that leads inside.
Long-time friends, we all embrace
Checking name tags just in case.
Ladies Room mirror cuts no slack
Where is who I was awhile back?
How can sorrow be swept away?
Be a good sport. Embrace the day.
