As we begin to wrap up our year of religious education, we take the time to reflect on the difference our learning groups and community are making in the lives of the children, youth and families we serve. Part of what we learn when we ask people about what they gain from coming here is this: Our church…

This past weekend, UUCA was the scene of many elves helping us bring holiday cheer!
The Mistletoe Mall Children's Festival provided fun, crafts, food, and a visit with Santa Claus for more than 125 children, youth, and adults. Many of the attendees were our guests joining us from Beacon House in DC and neighboring Arlington communities.
And once again, the 100 tags on our tress - for gifts from our UUCA Secret Santas to neighbors in need - were created by talented volunteers…

The winds are blowing, the rain falling, and as the humongous Sandy moves over us, trees are beginning to fall, streets are flooding, and people are losing electric power. Yet again, we are experiencing another storm. May all find a warm, dry, safe place to wait it out. The church is closed, but we hope…

Reeb Hall in History
The old brick building which stands across the parking lot from our current UUCA church building wasn’t always called “Reeb Hall.” When it was built in 1948, it was just called the Unitarian Church of Arlington. From its earliest days, members used this building for Sunday morning services and religious education, and also for community outreach.…

On Sunday, May 27, we'll be saying farewell to UUCA's first church home, the 1940s brick building on our parking lot, which has been called Reeb Hall since the 1960s. During both services, there will be a memorial tribute, the the children will have an art happening at the Reeb steps. Following both services, we will gather on the steps of Reeb to bless the past, and commit the bricks to return to the earth.…

We who value love and life, and cannot be silent in the face of hatred and violence, we must pray for new understandings to come out of the tragic reality that a young man can be murdered for no reason other than his skin color. One understanding we need - race still matters in the US, and we are unfaithful if we do not acknowledge what that means.
A second understanding - we need to stop allowing guns to…

Channel 5 News at 6pm and 10pm will run a story tonight (March 10) about the Anti-Bullying Conference held at UUCA today. It was an impressive event, with more than 100 teens from many Northern Virginia High Schools and dozens of adult allies, attending a panel discussion, workshops, meals, and a dance. Kudos to UUCA leaders - adults and youth - who worked hard to make this happen.
TV reporter John Henrehan spent a couple hours at the conference, and his report, complete with…
