I track news about the PACE (Property Assessment Clean Energy) program, which came to a halt this summer when the FHA issued a statement about repayment hierarcy, and this article arrived today. It talks a little about the Congressional fix for PACE, but first it spellls out some good ideas for quick projects that you can do now to help your home be more comfortable and to see lower utility bills.
I hope you find it inspiring!! Let me know if you're doing…Continue

A Coffee House on Friday, February 4 from 730pm - 9pm, will kick off our fund raising effort and provide an opportunity to learn more about Peace Camp. We invite children, youth, and adults to participate in the coffee house as performers and audience.

Making It Your Own
By Alex Roth
[as printed in the December 2010 Arlingtarian]
How Will You Make It Your Own?
Growing up, we had a lot of family pets - a string of cats, a dog, chinchillas, rabbits, horned toads, boa constrictors, finches and even a surly, descented skunk. Some of these animals may have started out belonging to one or the other of us kids, but, as happens in families, their care usually fell to my…

The 10:30 service will be more informal and reflective and without the choir. Since this is late notice, please pass the word to your friends.

The children of the 9:15 first grade learning group wish that children had food, water, good houses, love, friends, toys, and good hope. You can see their comments on the bulletin board near the chapel. They created a mosaic chalice and wrote their wishes into the flames. The chalice poster was the culmination of activities over the past several weeks. We walked for the homeless and collected donations for UNICEF. Then we invited church members to share their experiences with children in…Continue

As I mentioned in a recent uucava.org "tweet", one of the major emphases from immigration reform activists at our Nov. 30 Community Forum: Getting Immigration Right, Part I was that we show our support for the DREAM Act to our Senators and Congresspersons. In a nutshell, the DREAM Act would extend a path to US citizenship to reputable youth and young adults who were brought to this country illegally by their parents as children. DREAMers, as they are called, would do this through getting…Continue

The Missouri Supreme Court is considering a case that involves an illegal Guatemalan immigrant and her 7-month old US-born son. Bail Romero was imprisoned for using fake papers to get the job. Meanwhile, her baby was adopted without her knowledge and she is being told she’ll be deported without him. While in prison, her son was taken care of by family members and friends, one of whom adopted him. When Bail received papers about the adoption, she wrote that she did not want her son adopted.…Continue
