Profile Information

How long have you attended UUCAVA?
I joined in 1977, soon after first checking out this church.
What does multiculturalism mean to you?
The coming together of people from different cultures, minority groups of all kinds as well as the dominant group of the society in question, into a mutually respectful community whose laws insure equality and justice. This is harder than it sounds, for there's been a tendency among humans for millennia to draw lines, establish hierarchies, and maintain discriminations.
What religion or spiritual practices did you grow up with?
Methodist
Tell us a little about yourself/your family/your interests:
Soon after joining UUCA, my husband Wayne & I became active in the RE Program, and our three children were regular RE participants. Wayne worked many years with the teens; I helped invigorate chapel and intergenerational worship and co-authored two full-year UU curricula, several RE worship books, and an RE teachers manual. Wayne and I helped create & sustain the Labyrinth Project, the Spirituality Exploration group, and Global Justice group. I've facilitated Covenant Groups and worked with PAG. From 1985 to 1991, I served as UUCA's Co-Director of RE (with Judy Fisher and later Cheryl Binkley). I was widowed in 2007.
I enjoy writing, line dancing, fitness activities, yoga, meditation, reiki, "energy medicine," numerous volunteer jobs, and having fun with my 10-year-old grandchild, Chloe.
Why are you a Unitarian Universalist?
For me, matters of life and death and spiritual understanding are too important and too vast to be encompassed inside the creed of any one religious faith. The UU perspective fits my way of being because it is expansive, recognizes Truth within many religions, does not feel that revelation is sealed, encourages the search, is positive and compassionate.

Forget the "never" -- just think of everything you "EVER"!

For messages go to your INBOX and start from there instead of the Wall.

HI Jane and welcome to your new account. I think that I have successfully removed your earlier account and you are good to go. It may be that you will have to confirm the deletion through an email in you AOL mail -- however I only see one of you here so I think we are good to go.
