Elaine will be at St John's Church Lafayette sq 16th and H this Sunday January 8th, 2012. I am interested in early Christian writings an theology. She is an excellent speaker. She was at GA in 2003 in Boston as our Keynote Speaker. I found the ideas illuminating. If anyone is planning on attending I would love to meet you there or if you need a ride can pick you up at the church.See More

- I believe it is an explanation of the world we live in. Understanding multiculturalism is just a fancy idea for understanding the world we live in.
- What religion or spiritual practices did you grow up with?
- Catholic
- Tell us a little about yourself/your family/your interests:
- I am a Travel Manager by trade, an aspiring Solar Energy executive in my heart. I love travel, botanicals, and renewable energy. I have been a UU for many years and feel the connection of community and service when I am with other UU's.
- Why are you a Unitarian Universalist?
- I believe strongly in our covenant and the possibility of love and peace to conquer evil. It seems more apparent every day if we do not challenge evil directly, fear and despair overtake us. Hopefully as a world community we will see each other as fellow soliders marching towards the future. A future I want to be filled with love, equity, justice and passion.

Dr. Elaine Pagels-Revelations
It was a fantastic seminar this morning at St. John's. Dr. Pagels has turned her attention to the book of Revelation. In researching the author she projects a man closely tied with Jerusalem and heartbroken over its destruction at the hands of the Romans. More interesting to me is how the vision was consecrated by the Nicene council and authorized as pure theology. The vision is a very difficult idea to accept, the apocalyptic ending of the world, as we know it. Good stuff. I am translating…
