"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly," Martin Luther King Jr.

I'm working on new blog I founded over the summer called the Interfaith Youth Activist www.interfaithyouthactivist.org, where I'm designing a program for youth bloggers from different religious and non-religious backgrounds to blog and share their faith journey and interfaith perspective! Over the course of being a blogger with IYA, the youth will get virtual lessons on blogging, social media, interfaith leadership training and connect with speakers from various faith/non-faith based orgs?

Take a look at it and let me know what you think! :)

i believe that he is coming. And my youngest, Ben, is also.

BTW - while I'm thinking of it, I don't know if Jeff has gotten around to tell you but we're encouraging him to look at GMU for college (one application, anyway) and specifically at the ICAR program due to his interesting in international affairs, mediation and conflict resolution. If you get the chance to tell him a little about the program/your experience sometime this year, that would be great.

Thanks!

Hi Sana! Welcome to the UUCA Beloved Community online. Now we can participate anytime and from anywhere in church life. Our shared journey of spiritual growth, lifelong learning and pursuit of social justice now continues in discussion boards, blogs, uploaded photos, videos and other social ways here. To help you get started, please read the Getting Started Blog.

We are asking that if you intend to upload an image to represent you as a portrait icon on the site, that you use a photo that is clearly of you to reinforce our church's relational culture. We'd like to recognize each other online and offline! You upload the photo of you from your Settings page.

Please don't hesitate to Comment Wall of UUCA's Page. Soon we will have short movie how-tos for use of this site. Feel free to leave this Welcome note right where it is. It may help you in the future!

It's great to see you online!

Can I get an "Amen?" :)

Thanks. I look forward to referrals you may generate. I think it can be really fun because when the credentialing work is done or slow, volunteers can be learning more about the new web site tools for growing relationships in our community. I can be reached at 703-521-8907. Thank you.

Would you be available to help hand out web site credentials on Sept 13 or some of the following Sundays?

See the blog post "Sept 13 Launch: Volunteers Needed" - There is a link there to a sign-up spreadsheet -- with lots of choices and asking if you have a laptop.

I would appreciate it if you would consider helping in this part of the launch effort.

Hi Sana. I had the Youth Adults as a placeholder. I've deleted it. Now you can set up a group as its administrator. Please make the group private and that you'll have to authorize members to it. Run it as you would if we were live. Don't let any personally identifiable information such as phone numbers and addresses appear in the group. Have fun!

Profile Information

What religion or spiritual practices did you grow up with?
Sufi Islam and meditation from Ananda Marga. Also, I took a lot of family field trips to other faith celebrations and cultural events. So, I have been more "bi-lingual" in spiritual practices, meaning that I think that there are more ways to be spiritual than just one.

Today We Are All Sikhs- NOH8

Yesterday was somewhat of an emotional roller coaster for me and my Sikh friends. As many Sikh's are from Punjab- the same region in India/Pakistan that my family is from, I've always been drawn to other Pakistani's and Indian's from Punjab. Hence, I have many Sikh friends. Being Punjabi is pretty much like being from Texas, it's a predominant identity first regardless if people are from Pakistan, India or religious differences. Hence, it was shocking and devastating to hear about the Sikh…

Empowered UUCA Youth @ Justice GA

I'm sitting on our delayed flight home with our UUCA youth delegation in awe of the actions we took and the results we got in the last five days of the General Assembly. Not only was this one of the best GA's that I've been to, but it was probably the BEST way to introduce youth to a GA. It's social justice and action components are naturally attractive to the young millennials in our group. As a group we overcame our trials and tribulations, and discovered a powerful force within us to make…

Emma’s Revolution Concert in the Media!

Last weekend was a successful whirlwind of youth events. One of the major events being the Emma’s Revolution concert which attracted nearly 200 people to help the youth raise funds to travel to Phoenix, Arizona for the annual UUA General Assembly, focused on Justice this year. We reached our goal fundraising goal and made a whopping $1800.00 on the night of the concert in ticket and refreshment sales.

In fact the concert was so successful, it made into the Virginia Connection…
