Dear Michael and Linda-- Love what you've done with the commandments. Each of these so simple, but so challenging to live. Yikes. Thank you. Cynthia Adcock

I agree with Shaida and Martha - we should revisit or be introduced to the principles if we are new to UUism. It is important to fully live out our principles. How we behave does matter. How does our worldly baggage get in the way of fully living ou…

A Renewed 10 Commandments

I want to thank all of you who contributed your creative and inspiring ideas for this year's sermon series. To go along with our UUCA theme for the year, "Renewing the Spirit," the series will be, "A Renewed 10 Commandments," and instead of creating new commandments the ministers will be reinterpreting and renewing the original ones. Here is what we're planning to do, though as always there may be tweaks:

Dear Abby

Did you see this in yesterday's paper? You might want to send it to family and friends.

DEAR ABBY: I recently had a child and would like to join a church for the community, moral messages and the music. I grew up going to one and got a lot out of it.

However, exploration throughout my 20s made me realize that I didn't believe what was being taught. I tried hard to accept the doctrines, but truthfully, I doubt I ever will. Would it be dishonest to start attending again? -- NEW MOM IN ARKANSAS… Continue

Summer Books

So what are you reading this summer?

Summer is my favorite time to read, and I've been enjoying some great books lately. I'm on a history kick, having recently finished "Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World" by Jack

Weatherford (did you know that G Khan advocated for religious tolerance, among other humanitarian efforts?), and now I'm reading Taylor Branch's incredible book series, "Parting the Waters: America In The King Years," on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (… Continue

This is the tenth year for our annual sermon series, which is the primary resource for conversation in most of our covenant groups. The sermon and covenant group theme this year was, “Heaven on Earth,” and it was a rich topic with exciting conversations throughout the congregation. I announced the theme for next year on Sunday morning, and it will be “Ten Commandments for a New Age.” What do you tContinue

Distinguished Service Award

Malcolm Muggeridge
once said, "Never forget that only dead fish swim with the stream." As a
leader in this church for many years, the recipient
of this year's Distinguished Service Award
has consistently swam
against the stream of violence and injustice, doing the hard work of
teaching peace and being peace.
She has not only shown the way
to go, but she has modeled for others how to live a life of compassion.
Overcoming a multitude of obstacles,… Continue
