How long have you attended UUCAVA?

What does multiculturalism mean to you?
I think multiculturalism results when people from many different ethnic groups, cultures, and races live, love, and work together to create a shared joyful, purposeful life. We celebrate unique identities and also absorb characteristics from each other.
What religion or spiritual practices did you grow up with?
Art Museums, concert halls, and theaters were my temples. The depth and breadth of books I read soothed me in times of need.
Tell us a little about yourself/your family/your interests:
Reading, traveling, cooking, coaching young writers, literacy, illustrators of kids books, children's literature, The Big S, poetry, music and theater.

June - Enjoy Boston! There are 100s of Boston area UU sites worth seeing! (If you had the time to go to Concord, you could see the Alcott and Emerson homes, and the Thoreau homesite at Walden Pond - and 1st Unitarian on the town green, just as it was in the Transcendental era!)
But in center of the city - here's just a few recommendations -
Center of Boston (around the Commons) -
1. UUA headquarters, right next to the State Capitol (gold domed) - Open during the day M-F, with a bookstore and UU Boston-visitor maps.
2. Arlington Street Church and the WIlliam Ellery Channing statue across from the front entrance, at the Public Gardens end of the Commons. Very important to our history, defininf us in the 19th century, leading us in social justice in the 20th.
A few blocks from the State House, near Gov't Center "t" stop-
3. Kings Chapel, an 18th-century UU Christian Church (the 1st one in the colonies to call itself Unitarian, during the Revolutionary War)

4. I'd also recommend a visit to Harvard Square if you have time, to see the Cambridge Unitarian Church, right across from the main gates of the campus.
5. A little outside Boston, to the south, but still on the "T" - the Unitarian Church in Quincy has the crypt holding the remains of John and Abigail Adams (they were founding members of that congregation).
