- Since 2002, plus or minus
- What does multiculturalism mean to you?
- Having an open heart towards all living beings. Humans of all different cultures and ways of being in the world. And celebrating the different ways of seeing and being and playing and working and loving. It's such a short journey, this life of ours.
- What religion or spiritual practices did you grow up with?
- UU and others
- Tell us a little about yourself/your family/your interests:
- I live in Alexandria and practice elder and disability law in the District of Columbia. My work takes me into the painful interstices of lives in crisis or slowly painful declines. My clients and wards are the elderly, the mentally ill, physically disabled, /or retarded, and those who would help them. It is the best work I have ever done.
- Why are you a Unitarian Universalist?
- That is a good question.
Third generation UU on my mother's side.
Before I became a lapsed Unitarian, I was a Unitarian Buddhist or a Buddhist Unitarian.
I believe that spirituality is one of the strong deep characteristics of human being. I can't define spirituality, but I do drink in all of the knowledge and insight we can gain from our knowledge of the natural world and the expanding universe. As someone said, Nature is my god.
