Comment by Maggie Clayton on April 16, 2012 at 2:17pm Hello fellow warriors for reproductive justice –
I attended the inaugural call for a new UU group just formed and it promises to be the start of something really great. I invite you to attend the webinar on April 26th. You can find the information in email below or in the attached flyer. The goal of this webinar is to explain what Reproductive Justice really means and why it encompasses so many social justice issues. The UUCA UURJ leadership team will be discussing how we can be involved in the CSAI effort at this year’s General Assembly. I will keep you posted on that front.
Hope some of you can make the webinar!
Comment by Maggie Clayton on April 13, 2012 at 12:56pm Faith Aloud 40 Days of Prayer
Some of you may have seen Faith Aloud’s great campaign to counter the anti-choice 40 Days of Life vigils during Lent. I know I reposted many of them on my Facebook page. Well, it got the attention of several big anti groups and they have been harassing Faith Aloud’s office with hate mail and phone calls. I think this is a creative way to raise money and counter the hate speak at the same time. Please click on this link and read the article. I pledged .25 for each anti comment!
Comment by Maggie Clayton on March 8, 2012 at 9:39am Saturday, March 10, is Abortion Providers Appreciation Day. UURJ will be holding a Peaceful Presence at the Falls Church Healthcare Center Sat. morning. We will meet at the clinic at 7 am and stay until around 10. You can make a sign of your own or we have signs for you. We also have a large banner.
This will be our first presence while the clinic is open. Clinic escorts will help the clients past the antis, usually 10 or so, who are shouting "Human life is sacred" "Don't kill your baby", etc, etc. Rosemary is delighted that we will be presenting the other side to the passing public. Please consider joining us. We would like there to be a large group of us.
Please contact me at gredutchrn@verizon.net and let me know if you can come for part or all of the Presence to show support for women and their healthcare. Rosemary has supported our OWL students every year with brochures and the opportunity to tour the clinic.
I'll be there - hope to see other UURJ folks too!!
Wow, Libby ...
Looking forward to hearing you do this at an RJ rally. The hook and tune are so catchy that *I* wanna sing them! :-)
