Come to the next all-UUCA Social Justice Gathering June 18 9-noon: next steps...

At the last All-UUCA SJ Gathering on May 7, with nearly 50 people attending, we announced a series of social justice meeting to take place over the coming year with the next on June 18 to continue our planning and building our social justice community.  Join us at on Saturday, June 18, 2011, 9:00 a.m. to noon Activity Room - A light breakfast to be served at 8:45 a.m.

 
There were many topics that we did not have time to discuss on May 7.  One of the concerns raised was about how social justice work would go forward when Lavona Grow, our lay Social Justice Coordinator, leaves her volunteer position at the end of June after 4 1/2 years.  With no funding in the budget for a paid SJ position how will we go forward? Come and participate in planning this transition - as part of the social justice community it’s up to us. 

Also, we’ll have the chance to hear from the co-conveners of the newly established Immigration Working Group and join in the emerging vision for the 2011-2012 congregational year. We will also present responses to some of the questions and concerns that were raised May 7.  

Note: There will be no "Second Sunday" Social Justice Conversation following the June 12 service because of the UUCA Annual Meeting.
