WHAT?

Every year since 2006, faithful couples have gone to the courthouse to attempt to register their long term partnership as a marriage. They are refused. Minister, Pastors, and congregational leaders pray for and support these couples, and their friends and families come to cheer them on "I see it as an annual renewal of our vows," said one couple in 2011.

WHY?

Some religious voices actively workingagainst equality in Virginia are loud, but there are many other faith traditions whose principles demand equality for all people. At this gathering we will come together to raise our voices in support of GLBT couples and all people who are denied equality under the law.

The Arlington witness is being brought forward by People of Faith for Equality in Virginia and includes, among others, members of Rock Spring UCC, Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington, and Clarendon Presbyterian.

WHEN?

Valentine’s Day, of course! The Arlington event will take place at 9:30AM.

WHERE?

At the Arlington Judicial Center – 1425 N. Courthouse Road, Arlington, VA 22201.

We will gather in the courtyard in front of the building at 9:30 for prayer and remarks, then head as a group to the Clerk’s Office.
