Help! Need to name LGBTQ Youth Group!
Hello friends,
We need to come up with a name -- at least a beginning name -- for the PFLAG-sponsored LGBTQ Youth group we plan to launch next month. The group will be open to youth from the DC/northern va area, grades 7 - 12. Suggestions needed! Post them here or send them to me at eafogarty@aol.com.
suggestions so far include:
Arlington LGBTQ Youth -- ALY; Our Time Our Place for LGBTQ Youth; Arlington Youth Equality Society (AYES); Arlington Rainbow Youth; Our Space Our Time for LGBTQ Youth; MetroDC LGBTQ Youth Forum; Youth Equality Alliance of Arlington (YEAA); Greater Arlington LGBTQ YOuth; Acceptance Now for LGBTQ Youth....???

Sorry I hadn't seen this before.
As you know, I don't have the time this year to be very involved in the Youth side of this work -- but here's
a suggestion re the name. I suggest that you give it no name at all until you first see what youths show up
more than once, and then once they begin to gell into a group, have the name themselves. Giving them a little
control over decisions of this kind might be a step toward the group feeling empowered to deal with their own lives,
which in my experience with LGBT Youth is one of the most important steps they can take. -- Marc D.
